1. What are the requirements for good street lighting?

The main requirements are to provide a specified illuminance level and uniformity ratio and adequate control of the glare. In conflict zones, visual tasks are often more difficult than straight roads due to changes in road layout or high patronage by pedestrians, cyclists, or other road users.

2. What is the voltage of most street lights?

In residential areas, luminaires are typically 120 or 240VAC single-phase. Older highway lights and airport runway lights operate on 5kV series circuits powered by constant current transformers.

3. What power supply voltage do LED street lights to use?

Each LED module is driven by a constant current driver. In this type of system, the main supply generates an isolated fixed voltage of typically 24 or 48V that is low enough to comply with UL safety limits.

For AC drivers, there are narrow voltage (200-240VAC) drivers and wide voltage(90-305VAC) drivers. You could choose the suitable drivers according to the voltage of mains of the country you will install these LED street lights to.

Sometimes for industrial lighting, we also need to choose high voltage drivers with 347VAC, 480VAC or 528VAC.
