FAQ

How many lumens are needed in front of the house?

If you have floodlights installed, they typically require 1,200 lumens. If you install path lights on sidewalks, 1,000 to 10,000 lumens are recommended. Path lights can be used to illuminate the path from the end of the driveway to the front door, or they can be just decorative.

Should you stagger the pathway lights?

Stagger the lights on both sides of the path and steps to create balance and make sure you have enough lighting to ensure safety, but don't over-illuminate it. If possible, set the lighting slightly backward from the paths to illuminate those paths and illuminate the accompanying landscape.

How do I light up the front of my house?

Foyer lighting position: 6 considerations

1. Three rules of effective illumination.

2. Use upward illumination and moonlight.

3. Use silhouettes, shadows, and grazing.

4. Make sure your path light illuminates downwards.

5. Don't expose your wiring.

5. Don't point the lamp directly at the door and window.
