FAQ

1. Why do street lights have glare?

Glare is an effect that occurs when the eyes face bright light against a dark background. This effect is common in oncoming headlights at night, as well as when dealing with street lights. Most contemporary street lamps are usually cobra heads or cone headlamps.

2. How do street light sensors work?

Active infrared sensors emit low-intensity infrared energy to specific areas to detect vehicles. When this energy is interrupted by the presence of the vehicle, the sensor sends a pulse to the traffic light to change the light.

3. What is SPD?

SPD in LED lighting area usually means Surge Proection Device. It's a device or appliance that protects electrical equipment against voltage spikes in alternating current (AC) circuits. A voltage spike is a brief transient occurrence that can reach over 1,000 volts and lasts 1 to 30 microseconds. Lightning can generate a spike in voltage of over 100,000 volts, which can burn through wiring insulation and cause fires, but even small spikes can harm a wide range of electrical items, including computers, battery chargers, modems, and televisions. The surge device will typically activate at a predetermined voltage, usually 3 to 4 times the mains voltage, and divert the current to earth. The surge may be absorbed by some gadgets and released as heat.
